End of Season Awards

VEC FC END OF SEASON AWARDS 2018/2019  🏆🏆 Followed ‘Champions v Legends’ game

The award winners are flanked above by
VEC FC Chairman and Assistant Manager David Spring, and Manager Kev O’Hanlon

This was another remarkable season for VEC FC with Manager Kevin O’Hanlon at the helm.  What an exceptional effort was put in once again by an incredible bunch of players in an effort to emulate the 2015-2016 season.

We achieved our main start-of-season target by regaining the Premier Division title.  We also won our 8th Challenge Cup (out of 11) beating Drumcondra AFC in the final with Aidan Hyland scoring 4 VEC goals.  The Trophies are here!

Once again we reached the 7th round (last 16) of the FAI Junior Cup for the 2nd time in three years, unfortunately losing 1-3 to Kilkenny outfit Evergreen FC on 3rd February 2019.

Congratulations to all who picked up awards on the night!

Club Merit Award – Pat Meghen👼

  • This evening we have recognized the achievements of a number of players, and I want to say congratulations to everyone.  But we’re not finished …. every so often we have a Merit Award.  This evening it’s the MVP Award – not the Most Valuable Player but the Most ValuablePerson – someone who puts in the most effort.  This player is exceptional in every way.  He listens and demonstrates all the core values we expect of the players at VEC – teamwork, discipline, commitment, dedication, patience, understanding … he never complains or moans … he just gets on with it and plays his game.  This player started in 50% of our league games last season – but he played in every one!  He also played in every one of our 38 games this season – an outstanding achievement!  On top of that, he hardly missed a training session – many of which he organised and ran himself. He has scored crucial goals in crucial games over the last 4 years, Leixlip at home and Chapelizod away in the quadruple season, Glebe North & Harding at home last season, among many many others, and let it be known now that without his contribution the club simply would not have achieved what it has achieved, he has been a superstar for this team in his own unique way.
He fully deserves this Special Merit Award … it goes to none other than Pat Meghen!
