First loss in League this season

VEC suffered the first loss in 14 Premier Division games in the first mid-week fixture of the season.

The visitors Harding IF FC scored the opener just 2 minutes before half-time, and then added a second 15 minutes into the 2nd half, giving VEC a mountain to climb.

However, just 3 minutes later, a Seamus Staunton penalty (see pic.) made it 1-2, and despite a late bombardment on the Harding goal, there were no further goals. More pics.

Quarter Final Cup Draws

VEC have been drawn to play Boghall Rovers from Bray away in the Challenge Cup.

Coincidentally, VEC have been drawn to play Boghall Rovers at home in the Richard Knight Cup.

In the MMI Cup, VEC 2nds have been drawn to play Stedfast Utd. at home.

Staunton Double Secures VEC Win

This glorious effort from Seamus Staunton in the 57th minute sailed into the top corner of the net to secure a 2-1 win for VEC FC in this Challenge Cup match against Beech Park FC in Lucan.

A depleted VEC side were slow off the blocks, allowing the home side to level the game, four minutes after Staunton’s first goal in the 20th minute, but his second goal was a worthy winner, ensuring that VEC go into the quarter-final draw. More pics.

VEC Advance in Knight Cup

This was Tom Wrynne’s goal in the 34th minute to put VEC 2 up in the Richard Knight Cup last 16 match against Harding IF in Terenure, after Rob Newe had opened the scoring in the 4th minute.

The visitors pulled one back 5 minutes into the second half, before Oisin Kinsella’s bullet of a strike in the 75th minute secured a 3-1 win for VEC and a place in the quarter-final draw.

Meanwhile, in probably their best performance of the season, VEC 2nds had a great 5-2 win at home to Dynamo Ridgewood 2nds, to advance to the quarter-final of the MMI Cup.
