4-1 Win for VEC

This was Séamus Staunton’s second – and VEC’s fourth – goal in Malahide Castle as VEC recorded a resounding 4-1 victory over Atletico Malahide. James McGauran had opened the scoring after just 9 minutes and Jeff De Castro made it two in the 26th minute to make it 2-0 to VEC at half time. The home team pulled one back in the 58th minute, but five minutes later, Séamus scored his first and then got his second on the stroke of full time. More pics.

An intriguing league match away to leaders Fairview Celtic on Saturday next awaits!

Too Little, Too Late!

This goal from Pat Meghen in the final 5 minutes was VEC’s only consolation on the day that Premier Division leaders Malahide Utd. came to Terenure and scored from two breakaways in the first half, followed by a lovely strike in the 76th minute, to seal all three league points.

In Division 2, VEC 2nds were awarded all three points, as their opposition were unable to field a team on the day.

A Draw and a Win

This great save by Richie Hannify in the dying minutes ensured that VEC came away from Albert College with a share of the spoils in the Premier Division match against Shelbourne AFC. There were two volleyed goals – firstly by the home team in the 35th minute and then by VEC through Séamus Staunton 30 minutes later, as the match finished 1-1.

Meanwhile 2 goals in the final 5 minutes gave VEC 2nds a dramatic 3-2 win against Stedfast Utd. in Division 2 in Terenure on the same day. Conor Daly’s penalty put VEC in the lead, only for the opposition to score 2 in the 2nd half, before the dramatic late goals from Colm McSharry and Alonso Houlihan secured a great win for VEC.
