St. Mary’s Boys v VEC 2nds

The final league game of the season for VEC 2nds unfortunately ended in a 3-0 loss, despite a tremendous effort from all involved. Although we conceded a 12th minute goal, we were well in it on the hour mark, only for the home team to double their score against the run of play, before adding a killer third in the final minutes when we were pushing forward in search of a possible comeback. The result ensured that St. Mary’s Boys were Division 2 winners.

Rialto FC v VEC FC

A lovely header by Neill Love from a corner just before half-time gave us the lead. But it was short-lived as the home team equalised from the penalty spot just 3 minutes into the second half. 4 minutes later, a beautiful strike from Neill flew into the top corner for his 2nd score, only for Rialto to equalise once again immediately after and then go ahead with a scrambled goal in the 72nd minute. In the 90+3rd minute, with us pushing forward, they took advantage to slot home a 4th.

VEC FC v Coolock Village FC

A goal from Alonso Houlihan in the 16th minute of this double-header (League & Shield) set us on the way to a comfortable 3-0 win today. Jay Hester’s goal two minutes into the 2nd half was followed by Jordan Howard’s 85th minute strike, making it 12 points from our last 4 league games. [Pic: celebrations after second goal].

VEC FC v Boghall Rovers

2-0 down after 55 minutes, Rob Newe smashed this ball to the net, followed by a brilliant free kick by Ben Lenehan 5 minutes later, and a suburb left foot strike from Jeff de Castro in the 65th minute to complete a magnificent second-half comeback and all 3 points for VEC.
