3 Goals for Pat Meghen, 3 Assists for Frankie Nolan and 3 Points for VEC made it a successful Wednesday evening in Terenure yesterday 💥

VEC lead 2-0 at half time with early goals from Captain Shane O'Connor and Vice Captain Joey Byrne.
However, it had been a competitive half of football and the visitors were denied a goal just before the break with Colly Power in the VEC nets tipping a long range strike onto the bar.

The second half saw VEC overwhelm the visitors thanks to an impressive collective display of pace, fitness and composure in front of goal.

Pat Meghen was unplayable on the day, repeatedly arriving late from midfield and successfully getting on the end of 3 deft Frankie Nolan through balls.
3 clinical finishes later and the game was entirely put to bed.
Tshepo Montsho also nabbed his 4th of the season thanks to some excellent high pressing and individual effort 🙌

VEC now look forward to welcoming St. Mary's (Sandyford) to Terenure on Saturday with 3 more points very much the target 💪

Wing wizard Tshepo Montsho bagged a hattrick on Saturday morning to kick start VEC'S Division 1 campaign!

The lightning fast South African opened his account midway through the first half to give VEC a deserved half time lead and then added two more as VEC extended their lead in a comfortable opening day win.

VEC's front three were a constant thorn in Shelbourne's side. With veteran striker Joey Byrne laying on an assist for Tshepo either side of the break. While Paddy Cooke threatened in behind at every opportunity.

Shelbourne struggled to mount any sustained pressure throughout and a high defensive line was left exposed too often with VEC regularly capitalizing on quick transitions. Antoine Daubigny added the 4th as the game opened up late on.

A promising 3 points but Blackforge FC will pose a different threat on Wednesday evening and hopefully this new look VEC side will continue to gel and build on this positive start to the new campaign.

For visiting teams to the ETB [VEC] Sportsgrounds in Terenure: There is an on-site car park; however on busy matchdays it fills up very quickly and the main gates of the Sportsgrounds may be closed. Limited on-street parking is available on Rathdown Park and Rathdown Avenue nearby [Watch for Clearway]. Please do not block residents and their driveways. There is also ‘Pay and Display’ bays and a public car cark in Terenure Village – all within a 5 minute walk to the ETB [VEC] Sportsgrounds.
