VEC FC v Atletico Malahide

VEC players celebrate Tom Wrynne’s 60th minute goal which decided this Premier Division Shield tie. It was a brilliant left foot low strike ‘out of the blue’ from outside the penalty area, which gave the visiting goalkeeper no chance.

VEC FC v Rialto FC

Oisín Kinsella (left in pic.) opens the scoring in the 43rd minute to give VEC a 1-0 lead going into the break. However, the visitors equalised just 4 minutes after the re-start before Neill Love restored our lead on the hour mark with a fine header from Oisín’s lovely corner. The lead only lasted 10 minutes when Rialto scored their 2nd. But then, that man Oisín once again restored our lead with a blistering shot after a scorching run. Unfortunately, the visitors had the last say, when awarded and scoring a fortuitous penalty with just 5 minutes remaining.

VEC FC v Shelbourne AFC

Joey Byrne opened the scoring with a superb left foot shot to the roof of the net in the 13th minute, only for Shelbourne to equalise 22 minutes later. 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Oisín Kinsella put VEC ahead again with this free kick which completely deceived the goalkeeper, only for Shelbourne to again equalise – again 22 minutes later!

Rialto FC v VEC FC

It’s said that ‘Once Is Chance, Twice is Coincidence’!  Well, that could have been applied to Rialto as, firstly, in the 65th minute, their midfielder tried his luck from 40 yards and saw the ball float over Dan and into the net, with the aid of a strong wind. Then, 10 minutes later, virtually from the same spot, the same effort was exactly and expertly executed. This put the home team 2-1 ahead, but Aidan Hyland got VEC back into the game straight from the tip-off.  Then, just one minute later, we conceded a sloppy third, and lost a game, that merited a win, based on possession alone. Oisín Kinsella had opened the scoring for VEC 5 minutes before the break.

This was Aidan’s 200th goal for the Club. After a lovely ‘scoop’ from Oisín Kinsella, Aidan ran with the ball into the edge of the 6 yard box, as AGP players converged, shooting low across goal to set VEC on our way.

3 minutes later, Aidan ran down the left channel and then brought the ball back out and backheeled to Conor Daly on the overlap. Conor whipped in a magnificent first-time cross towards Oisín at the front post, who leapt and glanced the ball brilliantly into the far top corner. 2-0.
