A lovely header by Neill Love from a corner just before half-time gave us the lead. But it was short-lived as the home team equalised from the penalty spot just 3 minutes into the second half. 4 minutes later, a beautiful strike from Neill flew into the top corner for his 2nd score, only for Rialto to equalise once again immediately after and then go ahead with a scrambled goal in the 72nd minute. In the 90+3rd minute, with us pushing forward, they took advantage to slot home a 4th.
Rialto FC v VEC FC
It’s said that ‘Once Is Chance, Twice is Coincidence’! Well, that could have been applied to Rialto as, firstly, in the 65th minute, their midfielder tried his luck from 40 yards and saw the ball float over Dan and into the net, with the aid of a strong wind. Then, 10 minutes later, virtually from the same spot, the same effort was exactly and expertly executed. This put the home team 2-1 ahead, but Aidan Hyland got VEC back into the game straight from the tip-off. Then, just one minute later, we conceded a sloppy third, and lost a game, that merited a win, based on possession alone. Oisín Kinsella had opened the scoring for VEC 5 minutes before the break.
