Rialto FC v VEC FC

This was Aidan Hyland’s best chance in the first half, which went just wide. However, the two best chances of the game fell to Aidan in the 2nd half – the first coming back off the inside of the post but the 2nd – in the 60th minute – nestled in the back of the net as a sweeping move down the right side started by Jeff De Castro was finished on the volley at the back post.

VEC FC v Shelbourne AFC

Conor Daly, who made his debut for VEC 1sts after some splendid games recently for VEC 2nds.

VEC FC v Harding IF FC

After going behind to a 40th minute goal from Harding IF FC, Joey Byrne equalized for VEC in the 62th minute in Terenure, only for the visitors to score the winner 6 minutes later!

A disappointing result, but a long way to go!

Malahide Utd. v VEC FC

We thought that we had taken the lead in the 40th minute, only for the officials to bizarrely rule it offside. And then on the stroke of half-time, this effort from Pat Meghen was brilliantly saved by the home goalkeeper.

Malahide Utd. scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute and then defended in numbers. Unfortunately, our failure to convert a number of chances throughout the game, was our downfall.

Atletico Malahide v VEC FC

Only introduced late in the game, Brian O’Reilly scored the winning goal in the 90th minute to seal all 3 premier division points for VEC out in Malahide. Twice Atletico Malahide drew level precisely 20 minutes after VEC had scored – firstly in the 15th minute through Pat Meghen and secondly  in the 36th minute through Jim McGauran. But Brian’s late goal ensured victory for VEC on a 3-2 scoreline.
