After a number of good chances, VEC eventually took the lead in the 55th minute through Conall O’Shaughnessy, in the Premier Division match against Glasnaion FC played in TU Dublin’s Blanchardstown Campus. The lead only lasted 5 minutes as the visitors equalised and then scored the winner 10 minutes from the end to secure all 3 points.

Switching this cup match from the VEC (ETB) Grounds to the Astro in Sportslink didn’t affect VEC 2nds as goals from Garry Curran (2), Karl Reck (2), Andy Stansell and Gildas Oliver gave VEC 2nds a comprehensive 6-1 win in the O’Neills Challenge Cup against Mid Sutton Sportslink.
A hat-trick for Garry Curran (pic.) helped VEC 2nds to a comprehensive 8-2 trashing of a poor Drimnagh Celtic 2nds in the Division 2 match in Terenure.
VEC’s other goalscorers were Richie Burke (2), Paddy Prizeman, Adam Flynn and Eoin Monaghan.

This effort from Ray Jaudzems unfortunately went past the home goalkeeper and inches wide.

A somewhat disjointed performance from VEC allowed Dunshaughlin Youths to gain maximum points from this Division 2 clash in Terenure, Their set-pieces were really the difference between the two teams. Their 1st goal was scored on the half hour mark, before VEC equalised 7 minutes after the break through Garry Curran. But goals in the 60th and 65th minute ensured the visitor’s victory long before another 3 goals were scored in time added on to leave the result 2-5 with Conor O’Neill getting VEC’s 2nd goal in the dying moments.
