VEC 2nds Lose out in Penalty Shoot-out !

After finishing jointly-second on 43 pts. each in Division 2 of the League, VEC 2nds had a play-off against Terenure Rangers in Bushy Park on Thursday to determine runners-up.

After conceding an early goal, VEC fought back in the second half to score two great goals in quick succession in the 67th and 69th minutes through Shane Bunyan (with his 1st VEC goal) and Rob Newe (left) (virtually 4 years to the day of his last goal for VEC). With the referee playing an extraordinary 6 minutes of additional time, Terenure Rangers equalised with the last kick of the game from a direct free to bring the contest into extra-time where no further goals materialised.

Unfortunately, with VEC missing two spot kicks, a very strong Terenure Rangers team ran out 4-2 winners in the penalty shoot-out!
