VEC FC advanced to the 6th Round of the FAI Junior Cup on Saturday after beating Clara Town FC 4-0

Aidan Hyland (left) with two, Joey Byrne and Killian Finlay were the VEC goalscorers.

In Division 2, VEC 2nds scored another 4 goals when dismissing Harding IF 2nds 4-2 to go top of the table. Ron Doyle (right) scored two with Ross McDonald and Karl Reck adding the other two.

Hyland Scores for UCFL

With 6 VEC players starting for the UCFL in their Oscar Traynor game against the Defence Forces, it was appropriate that Aidan Hyland put the home team ahead in the 15th minute from a cross from Anthony Dunne. Alas it was not enough as two goals were conceded in an eight minute spell before half time to put the visitors in the driving seat. A further goal in the 62nd minute gave them a 3-1 win.
