VEC Reach Challenge Cup Final and Shield Final

VEC FC beat Harding IF 3-1 in the Semi-Final of the O'Neill's Challenge Cup in the AUL Complex on Monday and will now meet Drumcondra AFC in the Final on Saturday 25th May 2019.

Mick Kinsella's fine headed goal from an Anthony Dunne corner kick gave VEC the lead after 18 minutes.
Then in the 28th minute, a brave header by Aidan Hyland following a great cross from Tom Wrynne put VEC 2 up.

Harding IF pulled one back in the 43rd minute, but Sam Jackson put the result beyond doubt in added time with a fine solo effort to give VEC a deserved 3-1 victory.

Magnificent run in FAI Junior Cup comes to an end!

3 goals from set pieces in the opening 30 minutes put an end to VEC's FAI Junior Cup run in Kilkenny and put Evergreen FC into the quarter-finals. Aidan Hyland chipped the keeper from 18 yards in the 65th minute to provide a glimmer of hope but there was no further scoring. See more photos and short video (link)

It was a deserved victory for the home side but VEC can take pride in a competitive and resilient performance.
Best of luck to Evergreen FC in the quarter finals!
